21st December 2020

Given the new and tightened restrictions that will soon apply, arising from the current Covid-19 situation the club's flying site will now close as from midnight on the 24th of December.

Hopefully the situation will improve rapidly in the new year and we can open up the field again and get back to normal life that includes the flying and social banter that we have all enjoyed at the field in the past.

In the meantime, on behalf of the club's committee, have a safe, healthy and enjoyable Christmas and a good new year.

Best Wishes on behalf of the club's committee

UPDATE 10th September 2020

The ongoing corona-virus pandemic is continuing to have a negative impact the on club's activities.

As you know the recent increase in infection rates has resulted in a tightening of restrictions.

The Scottish Government has now stipulated that, as of Monday the 14th of September a maximum of six people from no more than two households can meet. This restriction applies to both indoor and outdoor activities.

Details of the scheme will follow but we expect to have it up and running again from Tuesday 15th September with only the members of two households being at the field at any one time.

In addition, as you know the club has secured funding from the National Lottery and the Renewable Energy Fund to significantly improve the drainage of the field so that we can extend the flying season and improve the flying experience.

The contractor selected to perform this work is now ready to put in the planned drainage improvements. Hopefully, weather permitting  this work could start on Wednesday next week.

This means that the field will be closed in any case for several days while the work is underway.

We will keep you informed of the situation as it develops but at least it means that this work will be performed when there are restrictions to our activities out with our control in place.

Lastly given the current situation it has been decided to cancel the annual Christmas bash planned to be held in Carrigan's in Blantyre just before Christmas. Hopefully we will be able to hold a similar event in the new year when the situation has improved significantly.
